The logic behind this may seem backwards, but the draft past the food is what drys the food not so much the heat. This design is said to work better than updraft dehydrators on cloudy days, and I found no complaints of burning as is the case of the updaft dehydrators.
I hope to build this soon as my garden is beginning to produce, and I will soon be faced with an over abundance of fresh vegetables. I'll keep this post updated.
Hi Bob,
ReplyDeleteJust wondered how your dryer is performing as I'm looking to build one myself.
Cheers,
Frederic
I have not built it yet.
DeleteDid you ever get around to building this? How's it been serving you
ReplyDeleteHi Bob,
ReplyDeleteI'm really confused this kind of design. Why do we need to place the exit hole of the supposed "cooler" air back to the top when instead it can go out of the system faster just at the bottom. Can you give us a clearer explanation to this?
Cheers!

It pulls more air when vented out the top. Better airflow.
